Maverick
Press
ARLINGTON,
TX -- The Maverick Athletic Club Fall Doubles League
proved that some of the best doubles in the Metroplex

Mens A, Mens B, and Mixed Open divisions. The
finals in the Mens Open had four teams--Howard
Walker/Pat Gibson, Carlos Cespedes/Carlos
Cespedes Jr., Alex Ma/Ottis Campbell,
and Presley Darnell/Mike Jennings all
playing in a round robin format. As usual, the team
of Walker and Gibson would not be denied their 32nd
doubles title as they battled against Team Cespedes
(father-son) for the championship match.
In the Mens A it was Dave Leck/Craig Lutz,
Randy Curlette/Doug Draudt, Chuck
Dusenbury/John Rucker and Bob Sullins/George
Moore playing for the title. Leck and Lutz
did not lose a game as they took out Curlette and Draudt
for the Mens A championship title.
The Mens B also had four teams--Hector Grajeda/Hector
Sotello, Eric Gunderson/Monte Bateman,
Mike Ramos/Tony Ramos, and Traci
Weaver/Randy Stover all competing for their
first Maverick league championship. It came down to
Team Hector against Team Ramos (father-son) in the finals
as both teams battled hard. In the end, Team Hector
would walk away with the Mens B title.
In the Mixed Open doubles--Pat Gibson/Sandy
Walker, Fred Foster/Mary Gumfory,
Carlos Cespedes/Carmen Coker, and Doug
Draudt/Ann Draudt would also play in a round
robin format.
It came down to Gibson and Walker against Foster and

their first Mixed Open doubles title together.
The end of the night featured the Womens Open doubles
