State Singles Maverick
Press ARLINGTON,
TX -- The 2005 Texas State Singles was held March 18-20, 2005 at the Maverick
Athletic Club in Arlington, TX. This years event drew over 200 individual
entries from Amarillo to Victoria to El Paso. With 60% of the players entering
(2) divisions, the total entrants was an astonishing 291. This number surpasses
last years numbers of 160 entries and 230 entrants, an increase of 25%. If racquetball
increases like that every year, could you imagine what the next 5 years would
be like? This year over 30 State Singles Champions were crowned and fans were
exposed to players from all over the state, including 16 yr old phenom Alejandro
Landa. Along with Alejandro came his twin brothers Roman and Armando,
a couple of 18 yr old twin brothers who are also excellent players. There
was also Cheng Cheng Li from Lubbock who won the Mens C division and also
Olive Curtis from Killeen who won the Womens B division. All the results
and final finishers can be found on the results page of the TXRA web-site. (click
