Almost 110 players came from all over Texas (some from Oklahoma and Arkansas) to play in the 2005 Maverick Triple Crown Championships. This event was the final leg of the Triple Crown with participants earning a chance to "Triple" their prize. Anyone who played in at least two of the three Triple Crown One Day Shootouts were eligible if their division was drawn on Saturday. The three divisions drawn were the Mens Open Singles, the Mens 40/50+, and the Mens 40/50+ B/C. (see story below) Our next event will be the Texas State Seniors here at the Maverick on October 15-16, 2005. Only Texas residents will be allowed to enter.

Arlington, TX - The 2005 Triple Crown Championships were held this past weekend at the Maverick Athletic Club, September 9-10, 2005. With almost 110 players playing in 20 divisions the club was filled with players and spectators from all over Texas, including some players from Oklahoma and Arkansas. The Triple Crown awards for all 1st place finishers were $100 worth of Mav Bucks. Mav Bucks are just like money except they can be used to purchase anything at the Maverick Pro Shop or the Snack Bar. They can also be used on tournament entry fees as well. All 2nd place finishers were given their choice of awards from tournament sponsors E-Force, Head, and Ektelon. Participants were also treated to a special souvenir dri-fit style of shirt with the Triple Crown logo on the front. Most players seem to like this type of athletic apparel to wear on and off the court. The Maverick would like to thank all the players that entered this event as well as those that supported our summer shootouts. We hope you all had a great time and we look forward to next year.

BOB FULTON WINS TRIPLE CROWN AWARD
Three divisions were drawn in the Mavericks Triple Crown Championships this past weekend and when the dust settled in the Mens 40/50+ B/C, it was Bob Fulton who walked away the winner and $300 worth of Mav Bucks for his efforts. Great Job......Bob!
