ARLINGTON, TX -- The Maverick Athletic Club hosted another Tuesday and Thursday night Doubles Racquetball League and crowned eight new champions in a round robin playoff. The finals were set to play Tuesday night in the Mens Open with Fred Foster,II & Richard Kourajian, Howard Walker & Pat Gibson, DJ Bittner & Paul DeLand and the father-son team of Carlos Cespedes & Carlos Cespedes, Jr. The championship was decided by a score of 11-10, 11-6 as DJ & Paul defeated Howard & Pat to win it all and claim 1st place in the Mens Open Doubles.

Then it was on to the Mixed Open division, where each team is mixed with a male and a female. The stage was set as Mike Jennings & Sandy Long, John Dill & Tina Joslin, Howard Walker & Jere Luttner and James Thompson & Keely Franks were ready to mix it up. The teams were evenly matched until it came down to the wire, as the newly formed team of James and Keely looked unstoppable. They didn't lose a match and beat every team in the playoffs and came away with 1st place in the Mixed Open Doubles.

The Thursday night playoffs for the Mens AA Doubles consisted of Bob Sullins & Mike Jennings, Dave Leck & Andy Crapper, Fred Foster, II & Fred Foster, III and David Long & Doug Draudt, all looking for their first Mens AA title. It was all Leck and Crapper as they steamrolled their way to the end by winning the Mens AA Doubles championship.

The night was capped with the Womens Doubles as Rita May & Traci Weaver, Sandy Long & Robin Barnhart, Mary Gumfory & Jeanette Foster, and Ann Draudt & Cheryl Bird took the court for the ladies playoff. Sandy and Robin sent everyone packing as they took 1st place in the Womens Doubles and ended the night with a spectacular performance.
Congratulations goes out to all the winners who received "Mav Bucks" for 1st place and 2nd place winners walked away with a Maverick Club T-shirt.
