Summer
Singles League Champions
ARLINGTON, TX -- The
Maverick Athletic Club wrapped up the Summer Singles
Racquetball League this past week with playoffs in all
divisions. 90 players from all over the Metroplex played
8 weeks of regular season games and a chance to compete
in the final playoff bracket. There were 6 players taken
from each division and they were seeded based on the
final standings. The Mens Open, Mens A, and Mens C playoffs
were held Tuesday, October 4th and the Mens AA, Mens
B, Womens Open/A, and Womens B/C were held Thursday,
October 6th to determine the winners in each division.
Congratulations goes out to all the winners who received
"Mav Bucks" for 1st place and 2nd place winners
receiving a Maverick Club T-shirt. The doubles leagues
started Tuesday October 18th and Thursday October 20th
and is now playing. Come out and watch and get ready
for the next singles league.

State Seniors
ARLINGTON, TX -- The
Maverick Athletic Club hosted the 2005 Texas State Seniors
Racquetball Championships, October 14-15 in Arlington,
TX. Almost 110
players from all over the state competed in 25 divisions
for a state title. In doubles action it was Anita
King & Rhett Collins winning
the Mixed 35+ doubles. Paul Lowe &
Martin McDermott won the Doubles Combined
90+, and the duo of Chuck Glona &
Chris Lamakul won the Doubles Combined 100+ division.
Carlos Cespedes & Louis Lenckus
won the Combined 110+ doubles. Howard Walker
& Pat Gibson did it again in the
Mens 50+ doubles. The ladies were out in full force with
Rhonda Look & Anita King
winning the Womens 35+ doubles. Brandon Smith
and Frank Westhoff took first in the
Mens 35+ doubles.
With plenty of singles action, it was Khan Le
winning the Mens 35+ singles, and Chris Smith
taking the Mens 35+A division. Pat Just
took home the gold for the Mens 35+B, and first time Texas
tournament player Ronnie Vasquez won
the Mens 35+C. Miguel Santiago went home
with two titles in the Mens 40+ and also the Mens 45+
singles. Darryl Thompson won the Mens
40+A and Steve Biller took home the gold
in the Mens 40+B. Mike Rushing took first
place in the Mens 45+C division and Jimmy York,
(the only competitor from San Antonio) won the Mens 50+
singles. Ron Harris surprised everyone
by winning the Mens 50+A and Ric Johnson
shocked the world winning the Mens 50+B. Joe Bartley
won the Mens 60+, and Jim Stahl won the
Mens 65+.
Maverick members also had a great showing with Terry
Ingram winning the
Mens 55+, and Jack Sims grabbed the Mens
55+A. Jere Luttner won the Womens All-Age,
and Tina Joslin won the Womens All Age-Skill
division.
